As a kid, I had an unusual obsession with office supplies, organizational items, and stationery. Especially stationery. I loved getting pretty stationery to write notes and letters on, whether I actually gave them to anybody or not. I also loved taking all of the leftover pages from my dad’s daily planner (which he called his “Brain”) and using them to plot out my own schedule—you know, all of the important things a sixth-grader needs to arrange.
As I started working in offices and eventually got my own computer, one of my favorite things was to print my own lined paper, letterhead, and calendars. I was pretty limited as to what I could do with word processing software, but it still scratched an itch.
It seems the itch will never go away. I still want to print my own stationery and organizational items, for a couple of main reasons: one, I like to change things up sometimes; and, two, many pre-made planners have a lot of sections that I don’t end up using. I figured for myself I just need to keep it very basic, so a monthly calendar and hourly schedules are great for me, and I can print as needed. I also noticed that most of the planners I saw didn’t have true 24-hour functionality, so that was a big thing for me to implement into my own. I’ll make other versions too, but my heart lies in the basic 24-hour planner.
